Collette's Volleyball
Hello Everyone,
Collette spent the weekend at a volleyball tournament in Vancouver BC. The games were held on Saturday so they drove up on Friday afternoon. I had a late dinner meeting, so I drove up late Friday evening to be with Collette and the team.
With Club Volleyball the teams usually play two all-day tournaments a month. The tournaments are divided into pool play and tournament play. During pool play the teams compile win loss records by playing against three other teams in the tournament. Their overall win/loss record as well as the point spread from each of the games determines the seeding for the tournament portion of the day.
Collette's team won two games and lost four during the pool portion of the day. However, three of her four losses were by two points (usually 25-23 or 26-24). Based on her record, her team was seeded seventh out of twelve for the tournament. The top six teams play in the Gold bracket and the bottom six teams play in the Silver bracket.
Her team made it to the semi-finals of the Silver bracket only to be beaten again by 2 points in a tie-breaker 15-13. They were actually leading 13-11, but couldn't force the other team into a side-out (lost serve). They were disappointed to lose a close match again, but they were very happy with their play.
The team stayed over Saturday night to do some shopping in Vancouver. Dad didn't think he needed to do any shopping so he headed home after the tournament at 7pm.
I have attached a couple of pictures. I hope you can open them.
Talk to you later,
Steve
