Preventing Fleas and Heartworms. We have discovered a pill that when taken monthly prevents fleas heartworms and other forms of worms. Sentinel can be
ordered on-line but you will need a vets okay. So far, this is working very well.
Feeding time
Feeding a puppy and adult dog at the same time can be a challenge. We have learned through trial and error how to have a pleasant experience. Initially, Belle was more interested in eating Beau's food and Beau thought it was a good idea to take all of Belle's puppy food. By the way, it is usually okay for the puppy to eat the adult dog food, but it isn't a good idea for an adult dog to eat high protein puppy food.
Initially we seperated the dogs using leashes. This worked okay but really wasn't a good long term solution. Now we seperate the dogs with Beau's kennel. Once the kennel is moved into place both dogs know it is time for food. At first, we did put Belle on a leash so she wouldn't run around the kennel and get into Beau's food. After about two weeks we found that we didn't need the leash. Belle now waits on her side of the kennel for her food. Since she is a fast eater, she usually finishes her food before Beau. With gentle reminding, we are able to keep her on her side until Beau is finished. This seperation has really made a big difference at feeding time.
The last thing we have done at feeding time is to put Belle's food in a muffin tin. She eats to fast. By putting the food in the muffin tin she is forced to take the time to move from cup to cup.
